A Place Where Children Come First

The RED ROOM: Classroom 3 is our Red Room where we offer programs for THREE Year Olds. Children are registered for 3, 4, or 5 mornings or 4 or 5 afternoons or combinations which include full day programming. (See our Extended Day Options) Classes for 3 year olds have typically 12 - 17 children with a teacher and one or two adults, depending upon enrollment. Our goals for 3 year olds include learning to share time and space with peers, learning to distinguish colors, shapes, and sounds, learning the skills needed to make a friend--(sharing, cooperating, taking turns, using oral language to make needs known, and more). The day is structured to offer indoor activities with teacher facilitation in small groups or individually, outdoor activities, stories, snack and music. In the afternoons, this room houses our half day 3 year old Inclusion Program. The sounds of laughter and children learning to play with one another is a wonderful achievement for a group of children. Arriving at school happy and leaving even happier makes us feel terrific. There is a door in the room that leads directly onto the upper outdoor play area.

No matter which classroom is used for any age group, Weekday Nursery School has a great deal of flexibility with room usage and so we look at our annual enrollment picture to determine the best way that we will serve the needs of our children, families, and staff. Nothing is written in stone here---we are constantly evolving and changing to meet the needs of our families. the needs of our Community and evolve to grow to meet those needs is one of the reasons Weekday Nursery School has remained a leader in EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION since 1966.
